Safari MCP changes the automation surface
The most unusual item in the release is Safari MCP.
Model Context Protocol is increasingly being used to connect AI systems to tools. Safari's implementation makes the browser itself easier for coding agents to inspect and operate.
That does not mean a browser becomes safe to automate automatically. Authentication, permissions, sensitive actions, and user consent remain application-level concerns.
The signal is that browser vendors are now treating machine control as a first-class developer workflow.
Scroll anchoring fixes a long-standing UX problem
Modern pages constantly insert content above the user's current position.
Ads load. Images finish decoding. Comments appear. Deferred components render.
Without scroll anchoring, the content being read moves unexpectedly.

Safari 27 is a useful signal because several changes point toward the same direction: the browser is becoming a richer programmable surface without abandoning standard HTML and CSS primitives.
What remains uncertain
Feature availability is browser-specific.
A web site still has to test across Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. A feature shipping in WebKit does not automatically become a cross-browser baseline.
The practical rule is therefore progressive enhancement rather than browser-specific assumptions.
